AIRPORT SYSTEMS ABOUTHoneywell Airport Systems, was formed in 1996 and is part of Honeywell's Aerospace lighting business. In 1998, Honeywell acquired Hughey & Phillips, an airfield and obstruction lighting company based in Simi Valley, California, and Daimler-Benz Aerospace AG's Airport Systems business, based in Wedel, Germany. The business is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with manufacturing, engineering, marketing and customer support functions at various locations in North America and Germany. Honeywell Airport Systems offers airports a complete line of solutions that increase the safety and efficiency of air side operations. These include airfield and obstruction lighting, Control & Monitoring Systems and Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VDGS). The Electronic Taxiway Navigation Array (ETNA) is a comprehensive solution for airport ground vehicle monitoring and navigation. A joint development with Frankfurt Airport, ETNA provides safe surface movement guidance for all equipped vehicles by precisely determining and displaying their current position. An onboard map display gives vehicles information about other cars and aircraft and, to prevent runway incursions, provides real-time alerts if the driver enters sensitive areas. A recognized world technology leader, Honeywell offers its customers an unlimited partnership in the complex and demanding environment of the airfield. Long heralded as a leading systems integrator, this holds true in the airport systems market as well. With an impressive array of airfield ground lighting components that include approach and airfield lighting, airfield control and monitoring systems, and addressable lights for Surface Movement Guidance Control System (SMGCS) applications, Honeywell provides pilots with enhanced ability to land and maneuver on the airfield.
